Sheryl Yoshimura, MPH, RDN, LDN, CSR, CDE
 
With a Master of Public Health with an emphasis in Social and Behavioral Sciences from the University of Hawai'i at Manoā, Sheryl Yoshimura has been providing health coaching, chronic disease self-management education and training, medical nutrition therapy, health promotion and disease prevention for over 19 years. She is a Board-certified Diabetes educator and a Board-certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition. She was Community Principal Investigator of multiple National Institutes of Health-funded health disparities and obesity-related community based participatory research (CBPR) projects and co-authored peer-reviewed publications related to diabetes, obesity, health disparities, and CBPR with Filipino, Chuukese, Samoan, and Native Hawaiian patients at Kokua Kalihi Valley Comprehensive Family Services - an FQHC in Honolulu.  She is the Special Projects Manager and Dietitian at Wahiawa Health where she runs the clinic’s Diabetes Self-management, Education, Training, and Support Program using culturally responsive educational strategies through the use of language, cultural content and context to engage patients and help them feel connected to what they are learning. She’s a true believer of culture-based education and experiential learning.
